The weakest link of a centralised internet

It is perfectly fine that the majority of internet services rely on a handful of companies iff we are aware of the risks that come with that choice.

When one thing fails, the rest follow… A centralized architecture is only as strong as the weakest link.

This week, the weakest link was Cloudflare.

For many products this might be completely all right because:

• it helps keep costs down
• it helps keep complexity down

But regardless of how many nines your uptime SLA promises, it’s crucial to have a clear, well-defined Disaster Recovery Strategy before you need it.
