Development feedback loops
Compiling the code … ⏱️ waiting … … scrolling IG/LinkedIn/Reddit … ⏱️ waiting … checking the result.
Our development feedback loops quietly shape our entire workday.
From being able to instantly compile and run a change, to only being able to test it in production after a few days of waiting (thankfully gated by a feature flag), the working day looks vastly different.
Depending on where you are on that scale: one side allows developers to have highly productive focus blocks, while the other extends the work by introducing mandatory, impactful breaks after every small iteration.
Adding and testing LLM-generated code is even more painful in situations like this. Hence, going back to the roots and fixing the developer experience first should be a priority.
